3. A focus on the ends. Too often, organizations get caught up in the right way or the way things have always been done before syndrome. If the goals are clear, then movement toward the goal is important. Learning takes place when better ways emerge, but trying a different means to the goal is how such improvements can be tested. There is nothing like a drop-dead date to motivate creative thinking about ways to achieve the goal more quickly.
