Grouped data II Look back at the points scored per season by Wayne Gretzky in Exercise 36.

a) Compute his mean points per season.

b) Group the data into bins: 40–60, 60–80, etc., and find the counts for each bin. Multiply each bin midpoint (50, 70, . . .) by its respective bin count. Add all of these products. Divide by 20, the number of seasons. This is your ‘grouped mean’ calculation. We are pretending that each data point lies right at the midpoint, for this calculation (obviously they don’t, but errors high and low may just balance out nicely in certain calculations). How close is this approximation to the actual mean you calculated in part (a)?
