A police officer and an alleged bank robber were hospitalized after exchanging gunfire. Hospital technician Cheryl James worked on both men. After the police officer died she posted on Facebook that she had come "face to face" with a "cop killer" in the course of her job. The hospital terminated her for violating HIPAA's privacy rules and its own work rules. The Facebook posting did not mention the employer, the patient's name, or where the shooting took place.
