This team exercise involves finding and perhaps rewriting mission statements for each of the following types of nonprofits:

(a) a nearby hospital,

(b) a nearby university or college,

(c) a nearby cultural museum (e.g., art, historic artifacts), and

(d) a national charity with local offices. Search on the Internet for examples that interest the group. Find the mission statement on the website. If a mission statement already specifies the scope, put together a presentation (similar in appearance to Exhibit 2.1) showing the who, what, and how of the statement. If a mission statement does not specify the scope, rewrite it so that it does. Again, put together an example of the original mission statement and your new and improved version
