The most difficult part of understanding a solution to Rubik's cube is understanding the notation used by the author in stating the solution. In one solution, the Ledbetter-Nering algorithm (see the references in the Individual Research Projects), the authors describe a sequence of moves that they call THE MAD DOG. This series of moves can be described using our notation by
