Problem 10.38 Refer to the StatLab data set in Table 1.16. Psychologists are interested in exploring the relationship between the girls’ scores on the Raven test (Y ) and the Peabody test (X). The Peabody test measures verbal facility; the Raven test measures a different sort of mental ability, related to geometrical intuition and spatial organization. The Raven test uses no words, only geometrical figures. It is an interesting problem to determine whether there is any relationship between the verbal facility measured by the Peabody test and the geometrical–spatial abilities measured by the Raven test.
