Question:
1. Read “Staffing System Evaluation and Technology,” in the Strategic Staffing textbook
2. Navigate to the discussion forum and respond to the following questions taken from the Strategy
Exercise—“Metrics,” that is located at the end of the chapter reading:
a. Compare the two recruiting sources identified in the exercise (i.e., source x and source y).
i. Which program do you conclude is better?
ii. If the hires from source x are retained for two years, and the hires from source y are retained for five years, would your conclusion change?
iii. What additional information would you need to make a recommendation about the source that’s preferable?
b. Review the turnover rates of the different employee subgroups of a firm as identified in the exercise.
i. In what ways is turnover a problem for this company?
ii. How could the company address the situation?
3. Provide a detailed post that demonstrates clear, insightful critical thinking.
4. Your initial posting is to include, at a minimum, two sources properly cited and referenced: (a) the Strategic
Staffing textbook and (b) an academic journal article that is at least 3-5 pages in length and published within the last 3-5 years
5. Post your initial discussion by the end of the fourth day of the workshop.
6. Also conduct a critical analysis of postings by two of your classmates by the end of the workshop.
7. Your discussion response should discuss your classmate’s posting and be written as if you were reviewing his or her posting in an academic journal. Your discussion response should therefore answer the following questions as applicable:
a. Was your classmate’s reasoning articulate and logical? Were the facts correct?
b. Was the interpretation your classmate provided reasonable and consistent with experts in the field?
Did your classmate defend the choices effectively?
8. The focus for your critical analysis is not whether or not you agree with your classmate, but how well his or her position was presented.
