Gears 3 and 4 form a compound wheel that rotates freely about the output shaft. The numbers of teeth in the gear wheels are as follows; N1 = 20; N3 = 72; N4 = 24 and N6 = 64. Gear A rotates at 300 r/min clock wise. Determine: i) The speed and direction of rotation of the output shaft ii) The torque required to hold gear 6 when the gear is transmitting 12 kilo wat with negligible friction losses.
