Integrating your life is about making hard choices. Living an integrated life enables leaders to be more
Question:
Integrating your life is about making hard choices. Living an integrated life enables leaders to be more effective in leading. It also helps them lead healthy lives and develop healthy organizations. Integrated leaders are able to make more thoughtful decisions and lead more effectively. Their employees are more committed to the organization, and therefore achieve better results. Integration keeps your focus on yourself and your True North. It prompts you to make honest choices about what you can realistically do and enables you to accomplish your goals. Even more important, integration enables you to be the same person wherever you are. The purpose of this week?s journal activity is to examine each of the major aspects of your life (i.e., your buckets): work life, personal life, family life, and friendships and community.
Let?s start by looking at the status of your buckets. Using Table 1 as a guide, start by discussing the amount of attention you give to each area of your life. Then, answer the questions that follow.
- What is the most difficult trade-off or choice that you are facing right now?
- How can you/will you balance the time requirements of each part of your life?
