Read and respond to the following description: The threat of terrorism and the hazards associated with terrorism
Question:
Read and respond to the following description:
The threat of terrorism and the hazards associated with terrorism have, without a doubt, impacted the practice of emergency management in the United States and the severity of it. The reality of the consequences resulting from man-made, as well as natural disasters have made us more aware of the actions we must take in order to mitigate, as well as be prepared for any of them happening in the future. Despite the fact that terrorism is a relatively new danger we have in our country, it is nonetheless very important. There are three major categories of & ldquo; hazards & rdquo; in our country, as well as all around the world. These are natural hazards, technological hazards, and terrorist hazards. In my opinion, any one of these makes us more aware of the others as well, and their cost. For starters, I believe we have become more aware of how unprepared we were for all the attacks that have happened to our country in the past few decades, which made it obvious that we must take immediate action to protect the United States from any future disasters. We must examine any suspicious hazards and make sure they are not dangerous to our society. For example, post-9/11, schools started practicing bomb threat safety procedures, to make sure everyone has a general idea of the fact that anything could happen, at any time, as well as educating the employees and the children on how to behave, in case something like that happens while they are on the school grounds. Airport security has become a lot stricter, and passengers & rsquo; luggage, as well as the passengers themselves is now much more thoroughly examined, to make sure they are in no way associated with terroristic acts/groups. There are many other ways our emergency management has improved post-terrorist attacks in the near past, but these are just some of the more obvious ones.
