There’s a very important reason why every single image represents a different “ism”, or movement. The artists of the 20th century were focused on pushing the boundaries of art, trying to create a visual image that is so different than anything else that they end up with very unique styles. The one underlying similarity is this: they are all looking for a visceral, emotional reaction from the viewer. Were they successful?
