Case Study $4$Facebook Privacy: Your Life for Sale$4-13$ Facebook is considered to be one the $$Big Four$$ technology companies along with Amazon,Apple and Google and is the largest social media platform in existence. The benefits that Facebook provides to its users are significant however those benefits may be outweighed by the hidden drawbacks and privacy sacrifices. Facebook gained its popularity by connecting people online and has been doing so successfully since $2004$ without any major backlash until recently. For the past $5$ years or so people are increasingly worried about their privacy and how their data are being treated. In an effort to influence the $2016$ presidential election, Russian operatives exploited fakebook$$s social network by creating thousands of fake accounts and bots to target more than $146$ million individuals. The controversy that this incident raised was boundless to the point where the CEO of Facebook had to attend a Senate hearing where he testified about this incident and was confronted about what had happened. On top of that in $2018$ the infamous Cambridge Analytica scandal surfaced into existence where the company managed to harvest thepersonal information of $87$ million Facebook users, again in an attempt to influence the $2016$ U$.$Spresidential election. Facebook was fined $5$ Billion in July of $2019$ for this incident. These are just two of the many Facebook scandals that critically risk its users$$ privac
