Module One Assignment prepared you for Project One, which youll draft using the writing templates in Module Three. But first, its time to preview your upcoming course projects and choose the industry youll research for them.
For your Module One Assignment, you considered the role of critical thinking in the diversification planning of one company. This was designed to prepare you for the four projects you will complete in this course.
Prepare for Your Course Projects
All four projects revolve around a scenario in which you are the sales manager for an engine manufacturing company in the auto industry. As the sales manager, you are tasked with researching an industry to determine whether your company should diversify into it
Your selection of this industry must be an educated decision and it must make sense based on the diversification strategies you learned about in this module. This page will guide you toward selecting this industry so youll be ready for your course projects.
Preview Project Guidelines
First, take a few minutes to preview the project guidelines in Brightspace. From your Brightspace course, go to Assignment Information, then review the following pages:
Project One Guidelines and Rubric
Project Two Guidelines and Rubric
Project Three Guidelines and Rubric
Project Four Guidelines and Rubric
For Projects One, Two, and Four, youll use interactive writing templates here in the webtext. You will complete Project Three on your own. You will submit all four projects in Brightspace.
Research a Diversification Plan
Your selection of an industry needs to be based on research. First, you need to consider what industries your engine manufacturing company might successfully diversify into. Second, you need to determine whether you can find enough information about that industry to make a wellinformed decision about diversification.
These two resources from the Shapiro Library may be helpful in figuring out whether there is sufficient data on the new industry you plan to target for diversification:
Shapiro Library Database: IBISWorld
Shapiro Library Database: MarketLine
You might also search for information on the websites of automobile associations and industry statistics providers:
National Automobile Dealers Association: NADA Data
Alliance for Automotive Innovation Resource Center
American Automotive Policy Council
