$1-$ A filtration experiments on lab scale is carried out to estimate the collection efficiency

$($depends on the material of construction$)$ for a slurry filtration. The filter is cylindrical in

shape $(D=10cm,L=30cm).$ The test results show that $99\%$ of the solid particles

have been retained at a flow rate of $1\frac{m^3}{m}in.$ Determine collection efficiency $($factor$).$

A larger filter made form the same material is needed to retain $99\mathrm{.}9\%$ of the solids from

the same slurry. The flow rate through the cylindrical filter is $10\frac{m^3}{m}in.$ determine the

dimensions of the filter.

Design the unit to filter $1000m\frac{3}{m}in$ of the slurry feed.
