1: Bridge construction (Adapted from Trayfo (1998, pp130-1). Before construction begins, a bridge project goes through many stages of production, one of which is the design stage. This phase emcompases various activities, each directly impacting the overall design time. Predicting the design time is helpful for budgeting and scheduling purposes. Information from 30 bridge projects was compiled for use in this study. (These 30 observations are randomly selected from a large dataset). The data is available at on Canvas- Assignment - HW 4. The response and predictor variables are as follows : Y = Time = design time in person-days x1=DArea = Deck area of a bridge (in 1000 sq ft) x2=CCost = Construction cost (in $1000) x3=Dwgs = Number of structural drawings x4=Length = Length of bridge (ft) x5=Spans = Number of spans Import bridge_reduced.csv data into R and then read the first six rows Create a scatter matrix showing the pairwise relationships between the variables in our data set. The distribution of each variable seems left skewed or right skewed? Use the log transformation on all variables and create a scatter matrix showing the pairwise relationships after the log transformation of the variables in our data set
