1. Choose a measurement system. It does not need to be overly complex, but avoid something extremely simple like a ruler. For your measurement system:

a) Explain the normal method of calibration (if one exists)

b) List sources of systematic errors and how they can be minimized

c) List sources of random or precision errors (including noise) and how they can be minimized

d) Every device is a compromise between accuracy and how intrusive it is. How is that compromise reflected in this device? Cost is normally the other part of the compromise, so notes on it can be included.

e) Is hysteresis an issue with this device? Why or why not
