1. Discuss an example of a cloud-based digital/business platform. Why the organization in your example shifted to such a model, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

Refer to the following two caselets to answer the next two discussion questions:

2. In Chapter 25 of the DT book, you learned about the Digitalization Governance System Postures (DGSP). After reviewing the TIBO Case lets, comment on the type of posture for TIBO, and justify your choice against other postures.

3. For Tampa Bay Furniture case, you will perform an audit as given on page 5 of the case. Include a table as suggested on Page 8, and audit at least 5 activities. Provide at least two recommendations based on your audit.

Do this carefully after reviewing the auditing concepts well. Note that there is little to do about the YES-marked questions/rows in the table. But for the NO marked one, i.e., " 10. Does each user have a unique user ID and password", it is mentioned that the accounts payable department shares one user profile. That sharing of accounts is a strict NO for a firm. So a recommendation would be: "Tampa Bay has been found not to have a strict user ID and password control process, and a single ID & password is shared by several users. That needs to be changed, and strict regulation and control should be in place." Choose as many no-marked ones as possible to provide good recommendations. See the examples in the table below.

The above example is a simple one, just to guide you. The key to an IT audit is to find more 'deviations' or 'discrepancies'. So the most effective IT audit, you should look for more 'NO' rows. Do not forget that Tampa Bay will write a check for more deviations and guide them to do well !!

Discuss each other's auditing points, and see if you can provide better recommendations--through discussion posts only.

Guidelines for Discussion

Answers to the questions carry 60%, and further discussion with others carries 40% of the grade.

Please write your answers in paragraphs in your own words. Do not copy-past nor mention the points as they are; restate or craft your viewpoints.

Answer all the questions completely in the one/first post. Refrain from half-answer. Do not answer questions one by one and post them. Once you answer and post any of the questions individually or partially, you will see others answers. That will defeat the purpose of your 'individual' answering all the questions, and grades cannot be given.

After you post answers, you will engage in discussions with others. Note the points above. The discussions should be based on critiquing each other's answers. I expect the discussions to lead us to learn more and explore interesting perspectives beyond what we learn from the readings.

At least five different quality discussions are needed to get full points. Just saying great point or interesting answer will not count. Depth and quality matter.
