1) Identify one current issue that has been reported in Australian media since 2016. This issue must in some way be related to harmful activity, or criminal, whether involving individuals, corporations, organisations, or the government. You must cite the media sources in your answer. The focus here is on the way you would fix the issue by adopting alternative forms of punishment that either do not rely on prison or are practiced in combination with criminal justice processes (i.e. is integrated or supplements the criminal justice system) you can consider one specific case study to justify your approach to the issue.

2) Critically evaluate an alternative to punishment by prison or incarceration:

a. Select one of the alternative justice frameworks discussed in the unit (i.e. variations of Restorative Justice practices including Reintegrative Shaming, Responsive Regulations).

b. Consider how your selected framework could be applied to resolve the selected issue (i.e. consider the practices linked to your framework). Address any limitations that may be relevant to your selected framework.

c. Define and discuss the concept of justice that you are applying here.

d. Consider how/if the selected framework provides justice to the victim/s, offender/s and society.
