1. Map a process with a flowchart.* Pick a process with which you are familiar. Do not map a complicated decision tree or other type of chart but a simple process flow chart. It should have at least 6-10 steps. It can have branches but no loops. Start with one node and end on one node.

2. Measure some data and make a Pareto chart; analyze it, e.g., which issue should be dealt with first?* You must measure the data. You can use data in your head (your memory from experience). The measurement instrument can be your eyes (e.g., driver mistakes at an intersection or customer's behavior at a restaurant). Maybe your instrument will be a tape measure of a bath scale. Unless you are already an expert with a software package, do not use it. Draw the Pareto by hand.
