After the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in September 18, 2020, Trump had nominated judge Amy Coney Barrett as the replacement within the Supreme Court. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court who was known for her accomplishments as she was the second woman and first Jewish person to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. She was also famously known for her dedicated work on women's rights, LGBT community, undocumented and disabled people. Before her death, the dying wish she personally asked from President Donald Trump was to withhold the application of filling her seat until the next president was elected, however in response president Trump chose to not honor that favor. As usually there would be the proceedings of the Washington Post ABC poll which preferred the winners of the election to select the next successor (and was what a vast majority of Americans even Ginsburg wanted), Trump had also declined to undergo the policies of the poll and already decided to nominate the next successor. By October 27, 2020 Amy Coney was then nominated to fill in the empty seat. This sparked outrage to Democrats considering that this was a clear stance of hypocrisy to the situation as it was as similar to the case of when President Barack Obama attempted to consider a liberal nominee back in 2016. Women especially were conflicted as Amy Coney was a complete opposite to Ginsburg as they both desired different morals. But as push comes to shove, the polls resulted to an outstanding 53 to 47 majority in the Senate, thus Republicans had the required amount of votes to forward the nomination.
