It's a very controversial topic in addressing whether releasing people on pretrial harms public safety. After watching the videos of this topic, I can conclude that cash bill system does have an increase in recidivism, but it doesn't harm public safety. The cash bill system targets more communities of color because people can afford to bail due to not having enough money. This cash bill system only works to those in favor on having enough money in order to bail themselves out and it doesn't to those who are stuck in the "poverty community." It mentions in the first video that the cash bill has been called a "poor people's tax" and has left some people who are unable to afford bail detained for extended periods as they await trail. Often times the crimes that are able to have a cash bill system are minor crimes like misdemeanors in which isn't a big harm to society. In my opinion, I think they shouldn't get rid of it, but they should give the opportunity to those who are in poverty that have the right to use it. Only rich people get the right to buy their freedom by money which is unfair for those who don't have that privilege. Majority of those people who are sitting in jail are low level crimes and offenses. Having them detained only limits their actions in trying to survive in society because why they're detained they are more likely to lose their jobs, housing, and other privileges as acivilian.Overall, eliminating the cash bail system can cause an increase in recidivism. It been proved thatjailing people cannot fix crime, and releasing more people from jail by minimizing or eliminating cash bail works.

With a simple Google search, one will find that racial inferiority has existed since the 1500s, and the criminalization of people of color began soon after. The term criminal became equated with colored skin and was used to protect White Americans. Colored criminalization allowed for the mistreatment of people who jaywalked, looked suspicious, loitered, or simply needed to be controlled. Race used as a rationale for discrimination, exclusion, and social scorn is no longer socially acceptable. Rather than relying on race, we use the criminal justice system to identify people of color as criminals and then lawfully engage in all of the practices we ostensibly abandoned. The cash bail system promotes the concept that if you have money, you can purchase your freedom, and if you do not have money, you suffer in jail. According to statistics, the majority of individuals in jail are there for minor infractions, nothing that raises concerns about public safety. The statistics are clear: in jurisdictions where logical cash bail reforms have been implemented, individuals who await their trial in the community are no more likely to be re-arrested after bail reform was approved than before bail reform. Simply put, releasing more individuals has not resulted in increased crime rates. It becomes evident that individuals are imprisoned each year as a result of costly cash bail, not because of any true public safety risk, but rather due to a lack of money. Individuals who feel cash bail should be maintained would still have to deal with the same dilemma of it "compromising public safety" as it allows individuals to purchase their freedom and be released while pending trial. If one allows those who are more financially comfortable to be set free, those who face financial hardships ought to be free too.
