1 VISUAL AID ASSIGNMENT Use the information in the two following paragraphs/exercises to create visual aids, as designated in each exercise. Exercise 1: Present the following information in a pie chart, a bar chart, and a table: In 2023, the Best Baking Company was keeping track of its sales of certain sweets to determine customer favorites. It sold 40,000 cinnamon rolls; 20,000 blueberry muffins; 20,000 strawberry scones; 10,000 brownies; and 10,000 lemon bars, for a total of 100,000 tasty treats. Exercise 2: Using the previous information ABOVE in Exercise one and the new data below in the short paragraph, show the comparison between 2023 and 2024 through a grouped/multiple bar chart and a grouped/multiple table: In 2024, the Best Baking Company tracked the same sweets and came up with 200,000 tasty treats sold, in the following numbers: 90,000 cinnamon rolls; 50,000 blueberry muffins; 30,000 strawberry scones; 25,000 brownies; and 5,000 lemon bars. Details: In Exercise #1) Do the exercise exactly as it says: one pie chart, one bar chart and one table In Exercise #2) ONLY do the multiple bar chart and table (which will compare/contrast information). I do not want pie charts for Exercise 2, since they are not good for the use of direct compare/contrast. You can use MS Word or Excel to create these figures; all I care is that they are computer generated, framed, the appropriate size, have an intro/interpretation, etc. If you do not know how to create table or charts, I would recommend using the LRC and/or computer lab to help with this; there is a video in D2L, but not all students have the same software. IMPORTANT: Be sure that you introduce the figures before you use them (per the rules of good figures/tables, as discussed in the PowerPoint etc.) and interpret the data that is given--what does it mean or show--what is the trend? If you use Excel, you STILL have to introduce, present, & interpret. If you don't know how to do this in Excel, then it would be wise to import the visual aids into a Word document so you follow the instructions properly. You may introduce/interpret the visual aids in exercise #1 as a group, and then introduce/interpret the visual aids in exercise #2 as a different group. This will save paper (for residential & hybrid classes) and space (for all classes), vs. introducing each individual visual aid produced (which would be 5 intros & interpretations!) You may abbreviate Best Baking Company as BBC for titles You must title ALL Graphics, both tables and figures Use title caps correctly Tables require a total line You must use data labels with pie charts You must use axis labels with bar charts You must use commas properly in conjunction with numbers!!
