Six Work Packages need to be described in the WBS dictionary choose one Pro- ject management work package and five other work packages.

2. WORK PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

Choose two work packages and provide a detailed definition. The work package you choose shall not be part of the project management section in your work break- down structure. There are different templates used for work package definitions. Choose a template which you think is appropriate to your situation.

Case Study: Trail Finder plc. Project ,,Consolidation and relocation of a warehouse" TRAIL FINDER is a retail shop specialist in selling sophisticated hiking equipment. It was founded twelve years ago as a retail store in Bremen. Six years ago, they opened two further retail stores (each 120 sqm), one in Cuxhaven and another one in Hamburg. All stores are using their own storage space within their premises. Until one year ago, online trade represented only a small part of their turnover and it could be handled (order intake, packaging, and dispatch) out of their Bremen location. Storage space became scarce over the last years as their number of trading goods was rising. Due to the actual situation and their online marketing campaigns, online trade has dramatically grown. TRAIL FINDER plans to reorganize warehouse and shipping. They intend to open a central warehouse located in between their three current locations. The new location will handle all online trade and will also be used as major store for all three retail stores. Cathrine Perry is the founder and one of the owners of TRAIL FINDER. She also acts as site manager Bremen and is in charge for online trade. The site managers of Hamburg and Cuxhaven own company share of 15% each. Cathrine's son Ethan holds a master's degree in economics and supports the company in different functions since half a year. Tom Selleck is the warehouse manager Bremen and was Cathrine's first employee. You are a team of employees working for "ReLocate Master", a consultancy specialized in implementing logistic and warehouse concepts for small retailers. Cathrine has assigned your company to plan and carry out all necessary steps to equip the central warehouse and relocate the stock. Besides the existing stock it is expected, that additional 30% of stock will be stored in the beginning. Your company's (ReLocate Master's) task now is, to develop a project plan needed to find a location, install necessary equipment (shelves, packing station, IT) and move a part of the existing store to the central location. Cathrine trusts your expertise, she works together with the CEO of ReLocate Master, Neymar Santos, for twelve years and gives you free hand in planning and executing of this project. Further information is provided as a framework: a) Budget not to exceed 180.000 . b) Timeframe max. 40 weeks. c) Warehouse locations in the respected area are easily available and will be rented. Two or three alternative locations should be presented to Trail Finder, which than will decide for one d) The IT-System is up to date and can be amended. e) All three stores will be kept, but a part of their current stock will be moved to the central warehouse.
