$1)$ What is your current research question. This is a single question which your research problem will be answering. $($This question will change, and become more specific as you progress in your research$).$

$2)$ Find five academic peer$-$reviewed journal sources. Avoid $$review articles$,$systematic reviews$,$ Master$$s thesis and Phd dissertations, Editorials, or any article that does not include a $$Methods$$ or $$Methodology$$ section.

a$.$ Each article should be directly related to your research question from step $1.$

b$.$ Ensure that the articles are not redundant; they each should serve a specific purpose For example, Does it help define key concepts? Does it do a good job of pointing out key debates in the literature? Do the findings support another article$$s findings? Does it present research similar to what you want to propose? Does it point to a gap in the research field that your proposed research could fill? Does the research address a population that you too are interested in$?$Does the research present research that your proposed research will challenge or present in a new context, e$.$g$.$ Covid$-19?$

$3)$ For each of the five sources from step $2),$ offer the following three sentence:

i$.$ State the article$$s research purpose $($this can often be found in the abstract$/$summary but is also presented in the introduction, usually in more detail$).$

ii$.$ State the methodology or research design adopted in the research. Identify whether the methodology is quantitative or qualitative, the measurement adopted $($e$.$g$.$ surverys, interviews, etc.$)$ and how many participants make up the research sample, and who are they. For example, $$This quantitative research utilizes a questionnaire distributed to $100$ post$-$secondary students$$; or $$This qualitative research uses in$-$depth interviews of $10$ people who had experienced a sport related concussion before the age of $15.$

iii. A one$-$line summary of how the source is relevant to your research question $($See Step $2$ for details$).$

$4)$ Be prepared to resubmit consultation write$-$up after consultation if$,$ usually small, changes are requested.
