11.6 Appendix A: Future Orientation Scale

For each item below, please rate yourself honestly as you actually are, rather than how you might hope to be. Use the below scale.

Scale

1 = Not at all

2 = Once in a while

3 = Sometimes

4 = Fairly often

5 = Frequently, if not always

1.		I make plans and take action based on future goals.
2.		I have a clear understanding of where I am heading in life.

Scoring

1. Add your scores across these items and divide by 5. A score of 4 or more represents a strong future orientation. A score between 3 and 4 would be moderate. A score of less than 3 would be low.
