12.1 Quality Tools A) Process Map

a. Identify a major process at home or work that involves at least a 10 steps/tasks in the process with at least 3 decisions. (e.g. cooking a meal, getting ready in the morning shower/ choosing clothes, loading a truck, etc.)

b. Draw a simple linear process map using appropriate symbols (squares, diamonds for choice, etc.) Use power point, visio, or other graphics software.

c. List key stakeholders, the beginning point, and endpoint.

d. Include a title.

B) Fishbone Diagram Root cause

a. Identify a problem a work, at home, or in society (e.g. roommate does not clean dishes, high healthcare costs, etc.)

b. Using the 3-4 main spines (e.g. Materials, People, Information, Technology, Process are standard or you can use categories unique to your problem such as in the video food is cold) develop at least a few branches off of each spine and include a few sub-branches off of these e.g. not enough fryers in video.

c. Draw by hand (photograph) or use software - submit a pdf of your diagram. d. Briefly write / type what you believe to be the root causes are of the issue. (list 1-3 causes)

e. Include a title
