16468 INTRO TO THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT ASSESSMENT TASK 2 (Individual) - ACADEMIC REPORT ASSESSMENT: 30% overall DUE DATE: 30 May 2016 (Week 10) Hard copy to be submitted in class. Electronic copy to be submitted via the 'Turnitin' facility in UTS Online LATE SUBMISSIONS: Refer to the Faculty of DAB Generic Subject Outline Document for Faculty policies in relation to late and incomplete assignments and late penalties. REQUIREMENTS: Prepare an Academic Report on 'Construction in Developing Countries'. The report should be approximately 3500-4000 words in length and should comply with the guidelines provided in the UTS Guide to Writing Assignments - Edition 3.1 (Faculty of Business). It should be written and presented in a professional report format. The Harvard referencing system must be used. The report should encompass the following: i) An overview of construction activity in emerging/developing construction markets (eg. China, India, Indonesia, Africa, South/Central America) over the past decade and the impact that this has had on the global economy ii) An in-depth analysis of an emerging/developing construction market of your choice. This analysis should address the following: - Overview of this construction market and construction activity in the market over the past decade - Forecasts for this market over the next 5-10 years - Identification and analysis of the key issues and problems facing this market - Identification and analysis of the key strategies that are being implemented to address these issues and problems iii) Your personal evaluation and critique of these trends, issues and strategies The report should include a title page, a table of contents, an executive summary, introduction, body of the report with appropriate headings/sub-headings, conclusion, bibliography/references and an appendix. It should be submitted in a spiral bound A4 document. The appendix to the report should include a signed and dated statement from the interviewee confirming that you have interviewed them. This person's position, company and contact telephone number should be included. 16468 Introduction to the Built Environment 2016 MARKING ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: The study should include a comprehensive evaluation of current literature in the topic areas. Marks will be based on the extensiveness and quality of this literature review, the quality of the interview, the professionalism of the report (grammar, spelling, structure, presentation), the actual content and the personal evaluation of the topic area. It is an essential requirement that the report be written in your own words with appropriate referencing of all sources of information. A fail grade will be awarded if referencing requirements are not complied with. Evidence of plagiarism will result in zero marks being awarded and, under university rules, will be reported to the Faculty for further action. To assist students in meeting this requirement students must use the 'Turnitin' software program when preparing their assignment and must submit an electronic copy of the report via the 'Turnitin' facility in UTS Online. Further details will be provided in class. Attached is the detailed marking assessment criteria template that will be used to mark the final report. Students should ensure that their final report addresses all of these criteria.
