A. The company is producing a one-off, complex large-scale product with high work content and normally where the product is customised using skilled staff that have to be co-ordinated

B. The company is producing high variety and low petition products where a lot of the products are customised to some degree using skilled staff that have to be co-ordinated

C. The company is producing higher volumes of product which are generally standardised, although some customisation can be included using staff with narrower skills.

D. The company is producing relatively high volumes of a largely standardised product and the staff require low or narrow skills

E. The company is producing very high volumes of products with a very low variety (often a single product) where the plant is capital intensive and largely automated.
