Read the abstract of a study by Venter, E; Boshoff, C and Maas, G and answer the questions that follow: Abstract In this study, successorrelated factors that can influence the succession process in small and mediumsized family businesses are empirically investigated. This study was undertaken in South Africa among ownermanagers and successors in family businesses. These respondents were identified via a snowball sampling technique. A total of usable questionnaires were returned. The dependent variable in this study, namely the perceived success of the succession process, is measured by two underlying dimensions: satisfaction with the process and continued profitability of the business. The empirical results indicate that the successorrelated factors that influence satisfaction with the process are, on one hand, the willingness of the successor to take over the business and the relationship between the ownermanager and successor, on the other hand. The continued profitability of the business is influenced by the willingness to take over the business, the preparation level of the successor, and the relationship between the owner manager and successor. The relationship between the ownermanager and successor is in turn influenced by the extent to which interpersonal relationships in the family can be described as harmonious. Based on these findings recommendations for successful successions are offered. Identify the type of research that is implied by the abstract Explain why. marks Why did Venter et al opt for a snowballsampling technique in a quantitative study? Explain why snowball sampling could not have been the only sampling method used in this research? marks The perceived success of the succession process was the dependent variable. Identify TWO most likely levels of measurement of the dependent variable implied in the abstract marks Based on the abstract suggest a title for this study? marks This study was published in volume issue pages December of Family Business Review.
