Comment on the general nature of the mechatronic system from the point of view of information flow taking into account how the microprocessor based controller, defining the information processing domain, would typically interact with the "building", clearly commenting on the key elements that would ensure an effective performance of the whole mechatronic system. (8 marks) b. Suppose that the building management system is to be driven via a programmable logic controller (PLC). What, in your opinion, would make a PLC suitable for such an application, when compared to devices such as a personal computer. (4 marks) c. The PLC system is to manage different facets of the control of the building, including the ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and security. Briefly discuss the PLC programming structure and its constituent elements which you would consider adopting, and outline how such a structure can help in dealing with the various control tasks that may be required in such an application.
