From Figure 1 below, two different titanium alloy members used for the fabrication of medical device as shown. The coupling is held together with a rectangular pin. Given that the coupling is supporting a load of 25 kN as shown.
a. Draw the free body diagram.
b. Calculate the shear stress in the rectangular pin. (Note that the pin is in double shear).
c. Calculate the normal stress on the 40 mm by 4 mm face.
d. Calculate the normal stress on the cylindrical rods with diameter d=18mm.
e. Calculate the shear stress in part (c) and part (d) above
