Each product is produced in a one-quart size of container (there are four quarts in a gallon). The All-in-One product has equal parts of orange, grapefruit, and pineapple juice. The retail price for the products of Sun County Company are given as follows One container (one quart) of orange juice: $1.00 . One container (one quart) of grapefruit juice: $0.90 One container (one quart) of pineapple juice: $0.80 One container (one quart) of All-in-One: $1.10 On hand are 400 gallons of orange juice, 300 gallons of grapefruit juice, and 200 gallons of pineapple juice (note: those are the raw materials not the products). Those juices are used to produce the products. The cost per gallon of pure juice is $2.00 for orange juice, $1.60 for grapefruit juice, and $1.40 for pineapple juice. In addition, the manager wants the containers of grapefruit juice to be no more than 30 percent of the total number of containers produced, and the ratio of # of the containers of orange juice to that of pineapple juice is at least 7 to 5. a) Formulate the problem as a linear programming problem to determine how many containers of each product to produce to maximize profits. b) Given the formulation that you have written down for part (a), solve this problem using Excel Solver.
