$3\mathrm{.}2.$ For more than a decade now, South Africa's long$-$distance $($intercity$)$ passenger railway system. Shosholoza Meyl, has been experiencing difficulties in surviving past this century. For years it had been servicing passengers in different routes around South Africa, between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha $($Port Elizabeth$),$ Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Polokwane, Nelspruit, East London, Musina, Komatipoort, Pietermaritzburg and more. Most recently, its operation has not been stable, it has been suspending and resuming routes again.

Assuming that a full operation on all Shosholoza Meyl routes survives on $28$ train drivers to cover a total distance of $296333\mathrm{.}04km$ per month. Suppose each train driver

is expected to drive a portion of this total distance in a month, and all train drivers are expected to drive an equal amount of distance as any other driver in a month. Now, if some routes of the Shosholoza Meyl were to be suspended, the remaining routes would only add up to half the previous total distance per month. If the company wishes to retrench train drivers and only keep a few, such that, each remaining train driver is required to drive exactly the same distance per driver as they did before the suspension of the other routes, determine how many train drivers would lose their jobs.
