JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT $|$ BUSI $2230$

You will be expected to keep a journal, beginning on the date as outlined in the syllabus, of your observations of recent marketing activities you are exposed to in your daily life. You must make at least three $(3)$ entries per week for a period of five weeks, a total of fifteen $(15)$ entries. The journal entries can include information on purchase decisions you make, or you observe others make, ads you hear, read or watch or discussions you have about products or services. Each entry must relate the incident you observe to the concepts we are studying in class. You must tie each entry to a marketing principle, not simply describe, for example, an advertisement you have seen.

Completed journals should be turned in on November ${28}^{th}$ and will be worth $20\%$ of your course mark. Marks will be based on your ability to place a concept label on a purchase decision, advertisement, or activity, explain the rationale for the label and link it to principles we have studied in class. Key points for this assignment:

You cannot use the same concept for each of your journal entries in a single week and you cannot use the same concept more than twice throughout the entire assignment

If you use a discussion as an example, that can only account for $1$ entry per week

For each entry, you must include evidence

Your examples must be "new" examples, meaning they cannot be older ads. For example, if you choose to do week October ${20}^{th}$ as one of your weeks, you must use examples that you have seen between October $20$ and $26,$ however the ads cannot be more than a month old. For example, even if you see a social media ad during this timeframe $($October $20$ to $26),$ if the ad is from September $2023$ you cannot use it$,$ it has to be no older than September ${20}^{th}.$
