5 contingency planning for horticulture
This task is essentially the same as the previous two (2) task but this time you are to identify three (3) hazards associated with the disruption of three (3) routine work activities e.g. irrigation, propagation, fertilizing, controlling pests & weeds, using chemicals, moving plants, operating machinery, maintaining equipment etc. as they are performed in your plant nursery. In other words, you are to consider what could stop the work from happening. For example, you may-be preparing beds for a new crop and one of the hazards could be heavy rain.
You are then required to list a minimum of three (3) risks for each hazard. Complete the remainder of the table
Determine if the hazard you identify has a low, medium or high risk rating in relation to whether it is likely to happen (under the current circumstances) and the outcome if it did happen. Use your Plant Nursery's Risk Assessment SOP to score the risk.
| Activity or task identified | HAZARD | RISK | RISK RATING | Control Measure Action | PPE Required | Reported to person and role | ||
| Low | Medium | High | ||||||
