5.7 Exercises 1. Implement the new versions off the Butterfly model that we introduce in this chapter. 2. The traces leff by turtles in their "pen-down" mode are usefful ffor seeing their path, but make it diffcult to see the turtles' final location. Make a new button on the Interfface off one off your Butterfly models that erases these traces. (Hint: For moving and drawing, there is very offen a primitive that does exactly what you want.) 3. Thry running the Butterfly model with the butterflies all starting in one corner off the space. Remember that we have world wrapping turned off, so the model would stop and report an error iff a turtle tried to cross the edge off the World. Why do the butterflies not cross the edge and out off the World, causing an error, no matter how low a value off you use? 4. Using the model version with a real landscape, vary the parameter q and see how it affects the interaction between landscape and butterfly movement. Start the butterflies in various places. From just looking at the View, what value offy seems best ffor finding mates on or near hilltops? 5. Analyze the question in exercise 4 in a more rigorous way. Develop a measure off how closely clumped the butterflies are at the end off the run, to serve as an indicator off how likely they are to find a mate. One example is the average, over all butterflies, off the number off other butterflies within some radius. Another example is the number off patches containing butterflies (the lower this number, the more clumped the butterflies). Conduct simulation experiments to see how your indicator off mating success varies with
