Objectives:

This active learning assignment provides students with $($a$)$ small project teamwork experience, $($b$)$ formal presentation experience, and $($c$)$ deep$-$dive familiarity with a significant emerging technology that will affect the practice of operations management and other business disciplines.

Team Formation:

Class members will voluntarily form teams to complete this project, with each team consisting of four or five students. Some teams may operate with more or fewer team members as needed to recognize the actual number of students in the class.

Students are responsible for finding and selecting effective teammates $-$ and are encouraged to choose wisely! But the Instructor will assist by assigning unaffiliated class members to teams as needed.

Team numbers $($and presentation sequence$)$ will be assigned on a first$-$come, first served basis within each course section. Each team will be required to establish its own rules of engagement, and its mechanism for allocating project responsibility and ensuring that project deadlines are met.

Project Instructions:

Each team will identify a relevant business process that can be improved, accelerated, or automated via the application of an Artificial Intelligence $($AI$)$ tool or technique. The chosen process can be drawn from a specific business discipline or industry that fits the interest or experience of the team members.

With the business process selected and the potential improvement or automation identified, the team will research and identify$-$possibly through trial and error$-$the best publicly available $($no subscription fee required$)$ AI tool to implement the proposed process improvement.

The team will then use the chosen AI tool to implement the identified process improvement. Depending on the nature of the selected process, the team can do this with actual process data or with sample data generated by the team for this project. More trial and error may be necessary here. The team should document its prompts, responses, and AI conversations for use
