8. (30 Points, Total, for this Question) - Using a borrowed website, A. Ripp Hoff and Connie Swindle acted as special deliverers for the Southern California Action Medical Major Independence Network (SCAMMIN), although neither was a medical professional or had any education/training whatsoever in medicine or pharmacology. Ripp and Connie promoted a number of organic originals products to help keep you safe and healthy in these dangerous times like "Immu-Boost (allegedly a vitamin and mineral combination that helps a body fight off viruses ... like you trained to be an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Champ!!!) and Safe Swipes (allegedly disinfecting wipes "with the power to kill ... (flu) bugs ... dead!!! ... making every surface you touch 100% safe) and "Handy Wipes... err, Sani-Flushhh... err, "Hand Blast.... sanitizer that blasts those germs right off your hands with atomic power!!!). Unfortunately, all of Ripp and Connie's products were fakes ... with no medicinal, pharmaceutical, or germicidal properties whatsoever which Ripp and Connie clearly knew ("We B SCAMMIN' SCAMMIN' for giant piles of cash!!!). Also unfortunately, their best customer, vlogger and social media "influencer" Parr T. Hardy, believed he was bulletproof" (i.e., completely protected) with Ripp and Connie's products and became deathly ill after a mega-beach-rave where hundreds gathered on an Orange County beach for a huge NO Social Distancing party. Ripp and Connie were arrested and charged with a number of different serious crimes, including Hardy's attempted murder. They immediately hired noted criminal defense attorney Ivana Getemov. Knowing that there was a lot of unfavorable evidence against Ripp and Connie and that a number of victims wanted compensation from her clients, Attorney Getemov recommended that they allow her to negotiate an agreement with the prosecutor to lessen the number and severity of the criminal charges against them. Attorney Getemov knew that a quick resolution of the charges would avoid the cost (mostly attorneys' fees) of a long criminal trial (which, with the evidence, her clients likely would lose), might help Ripp and Connie obtain somewhat lesser punishment(s) from the court; and would minimize the bad publicity from a long trial. Identify the general term for the negotiations between the prosecutor and defense attorney to resolve/settle criminal charges without going to trial; then, identify the three basic pleas in criminal court, explaining them and differentiating them from each other; and finally, assuming she can agree with the prosecutor, specify which one of the three pleas Attorney Getemov will suggest that Ripp and Connie accept, explaining why, given all of the issues they face, they should choose this particular plea and not either of the others.
