At 10:00 p.m, the local emergency manager receives a call forwarded from emergency dispatch stating that the Senior Citizen Nursing Home's (SCNH) generator has failed. SCNH is nursing home, assisted-living community of approximately 180 residents. Of those, approximately 60 have been affected by the generator failure. These patients are in the nursing home portion of the facility, and many are chronically ill and very susceptible to the effects of the cold and dampness. For now, SCNH administrator has gathered the affected residents in the recreation room and is using blankets to keep them warm.
