Question:
9. Set up the simulation to observe velocity.Use the simulation athttps://whscience.org/ants/ .We will indirectly measure the velocity of the top ant. To determine the velocity of the top ant, you will measure the time that it takes the ant to go from A to B, and you will measure the distance the ant travels as it goes from A to B. Both of those measurements will have uncertainty in the values, and we will have to propagate those uncertainty values through our calculation when we calculate the uncertainty in our calculation of velocity.
10. Measure the time it takes the ant to go from A to B. Using the stopwatch provided in the simulation, measure the time it takes the top ant to go from A to B. Have each person in your lab group take at least two time measurements and keep measuring until your group has ten measurements total. Fill out the table below with your measurements. Calculate the average time. For each trial, calculate the deviation from the average time. Calculate the average of all of your deviations. Finally, calculate the variance of each measurement, and record those values in the final column. Calculate the standard deviation and record this value in the red cell.
