The unit weight of sand is = 17.5 kN/m3 and = 30°

Given:

• Depths: 1.5m, 3m, 4.5m, 6m, 7.5m, 9m
• Corresponding SPT N60 values: 9, 12, 15, 20, 25, 32

a) Determine the settlement using Burland and Burbidge method. 

b) Repeat part (a) if the bedrock is at 6.5m instead of 10m.

 c) Comment on the results in (a) and (b).
