a basic water balance
A buried cylindrical concrete-lined reservoir has base area of 5850m2 and is 12m deep. It is used as a mine water supply and is recharged using a water supply pipeline from a nearby river. Assume that at the end of December the water table in the reservoir is 3m below the surface (9 metres of water in the reservoir from the bottom).
The table below lists the mine water consumption and the recharge to the reservoir from the supply pipeline, both measured in megalitres (ML). Also listed are the monthly rainfall and evaporation figures, both in millimetres, from the nearby weather station.
Fill the table indicating the water depth, change in storage (S) and total volume in the tank at the end of each month. At a minimum, show your later depth =3m calculations for the month of January (you can n December 31st omit the rest if you want). If you use an automated method (eg. excel spreadsheet) to I m of water on calculate the answer, still show an example lecember 31st calculation and attach a copy of your spreadsheet
