a) Below is a simple process describing part of a patients journey at Valle del Lili Foundation (VLF). The process begins with a patient visiting the surgeon for treatment. The surgeon issues a medical order immediately to the Insurer for approval of the medical procedure. The Insurer authorises the procedure and informs the surgeon who then issues another medical order to the anaesthesiologist for pre surgery evaluation. The anaesthesiologist evaluates the patient and if the patient is approved for surgery, the anaesthesiologist sends a consent to the surgeon who then issues a request to the Chief OR nurse with details for scheduling the surgery. If the patient is not approved for surgery by the anaesthesiologist, this process ends here for the surgeon as the patient will have to get back to the referral doctor for the next steps. The chief OR nurse, on receipt of the request for surgery schedule from the surgeon will make an entry into the Master file and the process ends here.
