Vancouver General Hospital - Minor Emergency Project Management Plan Executive Summary VGH serves over 356,000 people a year in their emergency department and has determined that up to 50% of people attending emergency do not need emergency services generating challenges such as delays, inappropriate use of resources, congestion and liability risk. Vancouver General Hospital In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health and funding from Ministry of Health of Province of British Columbia is proposing the re-development of the minor emergency facility consisting of 24h walk-in clinic and pharmacy, triage area and waiting room. In addition, it will be furnished with appropriate furniture, medical devices and medicines. An awareness campaign will be created to convince people to make use of the minor-emergency facilities The new facilities will provide to meet growing and changing needs, enhance quality of care for emergency and non-emergency patients - improve access to services and maximize staff and physician recruitment and retention potential. Re-development of the minor emergency facility Project is estimated at approx. $5.5 million. This includes capital design and construction costs plus equipment, procurement, implementation, reserves and contingency costs.
