A developer has now purchased the commercial development site on Grigg Road and your company has been engaged as the construction contractor.
The building designer has specified a non-combustible metal cladding for the faade of the building.
The selected metal cladding has been used extensively in Europe but has not yet been used here in Australia. In order to use this cladding system you are proposingto use a Performance Solution. A performance solution design brief must be prepared to prove that it will comply with the Performance Requirements of the BCA2019.
Note
Although the cladding will need to comply with Section C Fire resistance and Section J Energy Efficiency, this assessment focuses on the performance of the cladding in relation to Section F Health and Amenity - damp and weather proofing
- List the relevant Performance Requirements from the BCA to which the metal cladding must be proven to comply before it is used.
- Describe suitable types of assessment methods that could be used to demonstrate that the cladding conforms with the Performance Requirements
- Describe the testing procedure / protocol and make a suggestion as to which Australian company may be able to provide this service
- List the documentation that will be required as proof that this Performance Solution complies with the Performance Requirements. List the information that should be contained in each document.
- Provide a list of the Work health and safety Codes of practice which would apply to the handling and installation of the facade system to this building
