A distillation column will be designed to separate mixture of Ethanol, Water and Dimethylformamide mixture at atmospheric pressure. The saturated liquid feed containing 2% Ethanol, 44% Water and balanced with Dimethylformamide is fed to the column at a flow rate of 100kmolh.99.7% of the water is recovered in distillate and 99.5% of dimethylformamide in bottom.
Calculate:
a) flow rates of top and bottom products
b) top and bottom temperature of tower
c) minimum number of stages for total reflux
d) minimum reflux ratio and number of theoretical stages at R=1.8Rmin
e) location of feed tray
