A. Give feedback in these two articles
Article 1
From my understanding the foundation of the laws that apply to EEO are intended to eliminate discrimination in the workplace based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. The Equal Pay act also says that the sex of an individual can not play a prat of determining the pay for that employee. Also the age discrimination act deters employers from discriminating against applicant that are older in age. Basically these laws are in place so that no one can be discriminated against for any reason.
A diverse workplace can be a good thing because it allows for different prospective and opinion's on decision making and word of mouth when it comes to bringing new customers in. Having diversity in management can also help with eliminating discrimination when it comes to promotions and raises. Also having a diverse workforce can help in building a productive team.
Article 2
The foundations of laws that apply to EEO make it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against an individual because of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. With the focus of this discussion being male/female comparisons, violations could be not paying a woman as much as her counterpart or by only picking male candidates for a job posting instead of getting a diverse selection of qualified candidates. As a person who has primarily worked in the construction industry, I have heard of instances where different employers did not want to hire a female employee to their companies. The main reason I would hear that the reason was because they did not want to put the male employees in a position where they could possibly be accused of sexual harassment. Of course, this is ridiculous way of thinking and was over twenty years ago but it is what the thought and I know of a couple that are no longer in business because they got into trouble for discrimination.
I think that there are many benefits of having a diverse workplace. I believe that diversity can bring new and innovative thoughts to a company instead of having a single-track mindset. I also believe that companies that have diverse employees are at an advantage since they should be paying and treating all employees equally, they are going to have a better reputation and have an upper hand in highly qualified applicants.
