A numeric score is usually assigned to a vulnerability based on the Common Vulnerability Scoring System $($CVSS$).$ These numeric scores are generated using a complex formula that considers such variables as the access vector, attack complexity, authentication, confidentiality of the data, and the system$$s integrity and availability. The vulnerabilities with the highest numeric CVSS scores are generally considered to require early attention. Understanding the CVSS is an important skill for a cybersecurity analyst. To sharpen your skills, you will go to the National Vulnerability Database $($NVD$)$ and review examples of vulnerabilities that have been assigned a CVSS$.$ Because each submission must be unique you will then have multiple analyses of CVSS vulnerabilities conducted by other learners to review.
