A Project Manager Manager from our Project Management Office (PMO) asked me what I look for in a good project manager. I told her that I appreciate a PM that is proactive at mitigating risk. Even if you have the most skilled and seasoned project manager, your project will still have things that you didn't predict initially. Therefore, a PM needs to work all problems that come their way. You need to be able to define what the problem is, who is needed to fix it, do they need help and what date the problem will be remediated. Sometimes a PM can do it on a team call but sometimes they need to schedule meetings to get all of those answers. What do you look for in a good PM?
