Question: A random sample of 60 Data Management student marks in Toronto have been assembled below: 75 58 63 70 71 60 38 82 92 62

A random sample of 60 Data Management student marks in Toronto have been

assembled below:

75 58 63 70 71 60 38 82 92 62

91 65 75 65 78 90 68 63 82 75

80 76 72 66 48 88 72 74 76 82

52 61 60 73 71 63 75 85 82 58

80 64 71 42 73 58 63 68 92 70

84 72 72 37 66 87 70 70 72 61

Using GOOGLE SHEETS to do calculations and graphs, and GOOGLE DOCS for

your final submission:

1. Determine the mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation.

[/5marks]

2. Create a frequency table with appropriate intervals (use 10-mark intervals

beginning with "30 - 40". [/2marks]

3. Produce a relative frequency histogram. [2marks]

4. Make a frequency polygon using the relative frequency histogram and briefly

comment on the shape of the distribution of the data. (Note: you can draw

this "manually" on Google Doc. [/2marks]

5. Calculate the quartiles and produce a box and whisker plot to present the

data. [/4marks]

6. Calculate the z-scores for the highest and lowest marks and determine if

they qualify as outliers, using the z-score rule of thumb. [3marks]

7. Assume the marks are from a normally distributed probability density

population and the sample mean and standard deviation are good estimates

for the population: Calculate the probability of achieving a mark of 85% or

above and write a summary sentence. [/2marks]

NOTE:

A final Google Doc "write-up" must be provided with all answers in order.

Spreadsheet work must also be provided electronically: marks will be given

for proper use of formulas and overall use of the spreadsheet's

computational power. The purpose of this exercise is to learn about using

technology so while this work is "behind the scenes", it is heavily weighted.
